Learn the fines you could face for decisions made while walking impaired
Did you know?
Alcohol is a factor in many serious pedestrian collisions. In 2015, 21.7% of pedestrians in fatal crashes and 10.2% in injury crashes had consumed alcohol prior to the collision.
How does alcohol affect pedestrians?
Alcohol can impair your judgment and lead you to make unsafe decisions. You're more likely to cross the road in the wrong place, jaywalk or travel too closely to oncoming traffic, which can lead to costly fines.
Use the same precautions as a pedestrian as you would if you were driving a vehicle. It doesn't matter if you're walking, operating a motorcycle, bicycle, or any other motor vehicle; find a designated driver or alternative safe route home if you're impaired.
